Are you microbially minded and looking to share some of your expertise? The Microbial Menagerie is seeking guest blog posts.
What stories am I looking for?
Anything microbiology related. If you are working in the lab, you could share your latest research findings or write more generally about your area of research. If you’re not that into your research area (let’s hope this is not the case!) and want to explore another area of microbiology, that’s fine too. You can write about the history of a certain aspect of microbiology, a recent research finding, citizen science projects in microbiology, or a personal story about your research, as a few examples. The more obscure the topic, the better. But whatever the case, what you write should have a narrative to it and be entertaining and engaging to read. The goal of the blog is to show how microbes are everywhere and how they may influence our lives and our planet in ways we may not have thought about before.
What’s in it for you?
If you have never written for a non-scientist audience and would like to give it a try, this would be a good place to test the waters. While I cannot offer any monetary compensation, I will help guide your post and provide feedback on your work. You’ll get a byline, a link to your website, and I’ll be promoting it on social media.
Interested? Questions?
Get in touch with me on Twitter or leave a comment below. Let me know what you want to write about in a few sentences and why it belongs in The Microbial Menagerie. Once approved, you’ll create a first draft and then we will begin edits.
